One of the best parts of river cruising is waking up in a new destination each day - no packing, no transfers, just pure adventure. On this itinerary, we explored the heart of the french wine country with stops in Chalon-sur, Tournus, Macon, Lyon and more.
Each day offered two included excursions, which means we could dive deep into the culture, history and gstronomy. Mornings might take you to a historic abbey or a truffle farm, and afternoons might bring vineyard tasting.
A few highlights from my itinerary:
Wine barrel Workshop - In tournus, I joined this fascinating xcursion where we learned about the history and art of wine barrel making. We actually were parred into groups and able to put together our own barrel.
Macaron-Making Onboard - Yes, really! One afternoon, we enjoyed a fun and delicious macaron-making class. It was hands -on, tasty, and a perfect blend of education and indulgence.
Winery Visits - We tasted some of the finest Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays right at the source. Each winery welcomed us like family and told stories that brought the wine - and the region - to life.
Life Onboard: Fun friends & Fine Living
Evenings on the AmaCello were just as memorable as our excursions. One night, we danced to live music and we played cards with fellow guest, swapping travel stories and laughing into the night. The atmospher onboard is relaxed but elegant - just enough sparkle without ever feeling stuffy.
Every day was full, but never rushed with your choice of two excursions per day including bicycling, we had plenty to explore, yet always time to come back and savor a glass of wine on the sun deck or to recharge before dinner.
