Virgin Voyages Changed their Faires:
Virgin Voyages Changed their Fares: Here's Everything you Need to Know!
Virgin Voyages has always done things differently, and as of October 2025, they've introduced a new way to book your cruise. They have moved to a three- tier system: Base, Essential and Premium.
If you're feeling a little confused about which one to pick, don't worry. I've brocken down the new "Voyage Fair Choices" so you can book with confidence.
The Base Fare (The No Frills Option)
- This is for the sailor who is 100% sure of their plans.
- The Catch: These are strictly non refundeable. You cannot change your dates, your cabin, or the names on the bookings.
- The Perks: You get Basic Wi-Fi (perfect for texting and social media) you can book your specialty dining 15 days before sailing.
Lock It In Rate
- Occasionally Virgin offers a Lock It In rate. It is very similar to the Base fare but even more restrictive - Virgin will pick your room for you up to 2 days before you sail.
The Essential Fare (A good Choice with advantages)
If you ask me this is the better choice for a small differennce in price from the Base fare, you get the peace of mind that most travelers need.
- Flexibility: You can change your cabin or your voyage date (up to 45 days priot to sail date) You can even change the name of the second sailor!
- Better Wi-Fi: You get "Classic Wi-Fi" which is twice as fast as basic basic and allows for audio calling.
- Dining: You get to choose your restaurants 45 days early, which is hugs for snagging a table at Ping Agave or The Wake!
- Safety Net: If you have to cancel, you are eligible for a Future Vorage Credit.
Pro-Tip: Prices can change quickly as ships fill up. You can check the current live pricing and itineraries.
Premium Fare (For the power user)
Want the best of everything? Premium is the way to go.
- The Best Wi-Fi: Up to 5X faster (premium Wi-Fi) allowing for video calls and streaming on two devices.
- Daily Drinks: You get a $15.00 daily drink credit per sailor.
- VIP Planning: You get to choose your dining 60 days out, giving you first dibs on the best times.
- Total Freedom: You can change all names, dates and cabin with ease.
- Safety Net: If you have to cancel you are eligble for a Future
What about Suites? RockStar & Mega RockStar)
If you're going for the RockStar suite life, you still have the "Lock It In vs Suite" rates.
- RockStar: choose yor room make changes and book dining 120 days out. You get VIP priority service and your own RockStar Agent team.
- Mega RockStar: The Ultimate experience. You get "Red Glove Service: and a dedicated Mega RockStar Agent.
- Note: If you choose the Lock it in suite rates it becomes non refundable and you loose the ability to change, dates, name and you will not be able to pick your specific suite.
The Bottom Line: For most of my clients, Essential is the best value. It protects your investment while giving you a much better shot at dining times you want than the Base Fare or Lock It In Fares.
New: Transparent Gratuities
October 7, 2025 Virgin also started changing how they handled gratuities (tips). Instead of being hidden in the fare, they are now a seperate line item.
- Daily Rate: $22.00 per person, per day
- The Pre-pay Discount: If you pay for your gratuities in advance (before you board). the price drops to $20.00 per person , per day.
- Why it matters: Paying early not only saves you money but also ensures your onboard folio doesn't have a surprise balance at the end of the week!
